an artist collective

A group of women all a decade into an industry that has told us to fit a mold, over-work, and compete with each other in order to succeed. After years of the exhausting burn-out culture, we decided we’d try something different. What if we worked together, shared our individual experiences, supported each other’s pursuits, and blended our unique skill-sets into one collective?

This is haem; four women, a collective decades in the making. A photo team built on grit, passion, southwest desert dust, and a drive for a new approach to wedding photography.

Haley Nord | Salt Lake City, UT

Like any desert creature, Haley embodies both grit and softness without ever forsaking one for the other. Our reminder to step away on occasion, to pause before answering, and to live a well-rounded life. She can be found hosting garden parties in her yard, nuturing the garden for said soirées, or camping beside a juniper with her basset hounds.

Her work feels like dipping your feet into a cold stream, or pushing your palms into the sand. She brings a peaceful presence anywhere she goes, an immediate sense of ease when she walks into the room. Her work is cinematic, reminiscent of frames pulled from your favorite movies. To find yourself in her frame is always a gift.

Abbi Hearne | Moab, UT

The mother hen. Trip planner. Itinerary queen. Adventure lover. Abbi takes ideas from the group chat and brings them to life. You can usually find her in the Utah desert or exploring glaciers in Alaska, where she spends her summers.

Her work is defined primarily by two pillars; her experiences in nature feeling most inspired within the red rocks and blue ice, as well as her connection to her family and her community of friends. She’d tell you her approach to this work changed drastically when she became a mother and said goodbye to her father in the same year, pushing her to connect with the deepest parts of herself and the overwhelming beauty and brevity of all of this. Her photos reflect a deep love of the landscape and of people, and the connection between them.

Emily Klarer | Moab, UT

Our forever fashion inspiration and resident sommelier. The definition of effortlessly cool, and painfully humble. Emily will never tell you her roster of accomplishments (she’ll be mad I even hinted at them here) and instead will insist on learning about you and building you up within minutes of meeting.

A real artist behind the lens, Emily’s work is the party you never want to leave. She’s a master of creativity, producing work that looks to have taken years of planning but the idea came to her on the spot. Her images embody the feeling of a patio dinner that lasts long into the night, where no one wants to be the first to call it. She’ll create images you can’t explain, but instead leave you wondering just how large a photo can be printed (the answer is quite large!).

Megan Wood | Joshua Tree, CA

A true artist and embodiment of mindfulness in everything she touches. If you visit her home in the Mojave desert, she’ll serve you tea with fresh lemon in a mug she built herself. You’ll see her home studio filled with ceramics and fiber art, and be greeted by her doberman rescue, Theo, who never leaves her side.

Her work has grown with her from a foundational degree in fine art, years of life on the road in a self-remodeled airstream, to her oasis in Joshua Tree from which she travels around the world photographing stunning events. As well-rounded as they come, Megan can comfortably brush elbows in a gallery in LA, a resort in Aspen, or a backcountry campsite in Utah. She somehow belongs anywhere, with the ability to notice and capture connection amongst any group of people, from Greece to Southern California.
